"And what do you do for a living, Mrs. Levi?" asks a character in the first scene of this most delightful of musical comedies. "Some people paint, some sew ... I meddle," replies Dolly. And we're off on a whirlwind race around New York at the turn of the twentieth century, Following the adventures of America's most beloved musical matchmaker.

The original Broadway production, with Carol Channing in the title role, played for 2844 performances, making it the longest-playing Broadway musical of its time. Winner of 10 Tony Awards , the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Musical and many other awards.

Classic musical hits include Put On Your Sunday Clothes, Ribbons Down My Back, Before the Parade Passes By, Elegance, It Only Takes A Moment and So Long, Dearie, as well as the unforgettable title tune.

The director

Christi Sears has become ACT's top director of musicals, with a string of successes including The Rocky Horror Show, The Pirates of Penzance, Into the Woods and last season's You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. A long-time board member, she served three terms as president. Christi lives and works in Albany.
